Life at BDS

A nurturing environment, quality academics, excellent teacher-to-parent communications and individualized attention - those are all hallmarks of BDS. Ours is a school where students thrive in small classes and teachers are able to focus on each student's needs. Our rigorous curriculum features a foreign language beginning in first grade, develops mastery of fundamental skills and critical thinking, stimulates creativity in music and the fine arts, and uses technology to support the learning process. The BDS program also includes age-appropriate experiential learning opportunities through community service projects. Physical education and/or athletics is a daily part of all our students' schedules. Older students participate in after-school sports such as soccer, volleyball, tennis, basketball, cheerleading, and golf. Middle School students may also compete on our acclaimed "Battle of the Books" team or participate in the Middle School Student Council.

Burlington Day School is not merely a campus of students and teachers. We are an inclusive community of families and educators, who share with parents a commitment to inspiring and educating children. We are a community where older students interact with younger children in various activities and programs. We are a community that embraces families who value excellence in education, a love of learning, and who desire to be highly involved in the life of the school.

The BDS program is divided into three areas:

Program for Young Children/Kindergarten

Lower School, (grades 1-5)

Middle School, (grades 6-8)
