Burlington Day School (BDS) announces a full academic scholarship that honors Alliene H. Johnson, Head of School, from 1972-2000. The scholarship seeks new, talented ,rising 6th - 8th grade students who embody the principles cherished by the school and its community.
BDS values individuals and families who share a love of learning and who seek an environment that fosters strong citizenship, leadership and scholarship. All our students not only share the ability to be academically successful, but also are encouraged to develop their artistic, athletic, and leadership skills. In addition, the school's "Five Flags of Virtue": courage, honesty, friendship, responsibility and loyalty, form the backbone of a school community that cares about one another.
Boys and girls of rising middle school age who exemplify the above qualities are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. The application fee, registration fee, technology fee and the full tuition will be covered for up to two new students. The scholarship is renewable annually based on established criteria, (academic performance, demonstration of appropriate citizenship and leadership, etc.).
Applicants must submit all required materials no later than 4:00 pm on March 31, 2010. Materials may be sent electronically to Penny Scott , Director of Admission, mailed or hand-delivered to the school at 1615 Greenwood Terrace Burlington, NC 27215. Please note that late submissions cannot be accepted.
