Bruins Athletics
Burlington Day School is a founding member of the Triad Middle Athletic Conference (TMAC). TMAC includes other schools from Greensboro and High Point. BDS also enjoys non-conference games with local schools such as Burlington Christian Academy, Blessed Sacrament School, and others. BDS believes in the value of participating in sports, it is part of our mission. Students learn to function as a part of a team and gain new skills while enjoying physical exercise. In our program, students not only participate in athletic competitions, but focus on the development of techniques necessary for the game. While winning is important, it is not the primary goal. The combination of teamwork and sportsmanship make the foundation of our program. All students in grades 6-8 may participate in any appropriate sport, (i.e., boys for boys’ basketball), offered at BDS. While it is the school’s goal to have all team members actively participate in their chosen sport(s), it is possible that team members may not have equal playing time. Playing time is left to the coach’s discretion and is earned by each team member. Note that a physical examination completed by the student’s physician and the necessary documents submitted to Magnus Student Health Records is required prior to participation.
The following sports are offered:

Our student athletes are supported in part by the Bruins Boosters. Bruins Boosters is an organization comprised of parents who work to enhance the quality of our athletics program. Proceeds from our Bruins Boosters fund items such as new uniforms and equipment. In the 2010-2011 school year, the Boosters purchased a new ice machine for the school. Please consider joining them in support of our student athletes.
